I have been working to write a reharmonization/hymn prelude every week for the past month or so. Here is a reharmonization of Cwm Rhonda that I am particularly fond of.
it is a canon at the 5 between the soprano and bass with some free counterpoint in between.
Feel free to use it in services as either a hymn introduction or as a reharmonization for the final verse. I’ve used it with my congregation twice now and it’s worked really well as long as the pedal isn’t too loud as the canon can confuse them.
also pardon the instrumentation In the score it’s for just organ, it was the only way to get finale to give me a somewhat decent trio sound that wasn’t full organ in all parts.
